In September, every two years, here relives the ancient romantic contest between two knights: the two youths challenge each other in a chess game to win the hand of the beautiful Lianora.

Amongst the most famous, the residences of the vicentini nobles who asked Andrea Palladio to design their villas in the countryside: Villa Capra Valmarana known as "La Rotonda", Villa Godi Malinverni, Villa Pisani Ferri, Villa Valmarana Bressan, Villa Da Porto Pedrotti, Villa Gazzotti Curti. Giambattista Tiepolo enriched the interior with the series of affreschi that today can be admired in Villa Loschi Metterle, Villa Cordellina and Villa Valmarana ai Nani.

There are three areas of production, some with local vineyards: Colli Berici (Tocai, Garganego, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet), Gambellara (Gambellara and Recioto) and Breganze (Vespaiolo, Torcolato and Breganze). The beautiful hills that host the vineyards are ideal places for wonderful cycling excursions, made more pleasant by a refreshing stop-over at some host farm or wine farm.
